Welcome to the UK Peace Foundation. We wish all our visitors a happy, healthy and peaceful 2012.

We have created this website to share the Peace Mantra with as many people as possible throughout the world. We hope all who read these pages will be encouraged and inspired to cultivate peace in their own way in every corner of their lives.

bullet point What is the UK Peace Foundation?
We are a fully constituted, non-commercial organisation, free of any political or spiritual bias. Our purpose is to support and encourage all who desire peace, and who want to help bring it into being.

We believe that all of us can take practical measures, however small, to cultivate peace within ourselves, and spread it out into our communities, into our land, and throughout the world.

Our 'inside-out' approach to peace is reflected in the Peace Mantra, which is displayed at the top of this page. It contains the realisation that peace begins with each one of us; we cannot expect others to pursue peace unless we are prepared to set our own house in order. You can read more about the mantra by clicking on the following buttons to the left of this page: The Peace Mantra, Peace in my Heart, Peace in this Place, Peace in our Land, and Peace in our World.

The Foundation's logo, created by Pharic, reflects our 'inside-out' approach to peace:-

bullet point What we have started to do
Since our formation three years ago, we have
    - run a series of support sessions for those who are new to meditation
   - created and distributed a series of four Peace Mantra postcards (a newly designed set will be prepared during the coming year)
   - written to a number of UK politicians and world leaders, encouraging them to continue and deepen their commitment towards peace
    - made donations to two organisations helping to mend broke communities
   - run a number of activities - such as a sponsored walk - to help raise public awareness of peace
   - formed links with a number of organisations and individuals who are helping to bring about peace
   - created and maintained this website, with much valued professonal help from Pharic, and with suggestions and contributions from many parts of the world.

We also set up the Penwith Peace Group. This ran for two years, enabling people to come together to focus upon peace, through meditation and discussion. This group is not meeting at present, as all the facilitators have moved to other parts of the UK.

bullet point We welcome an exchange of experiences and ideas
We realise that everyone has their own 'take' on how to establish and maintain peace, and that much can be gained through mutual sharing and dialogue. So p
lease let us know via the Contact Us page if
   - you would like to give any constructive feedback about this website
   - you have any peace writings, peace 'news', quotations, or recommended books or practices you would like to share
   - you would like to receive some Peace Mantra postcards (these are free)
   - you would like to discuss any issues about meditation
   - you would like to recommend a link (please bear in mind we would normally only forge links with similarly politically and spiritually unbiased, not-for-profit organisations)

You can find out more by clicking the buttons on the left. Many of the pages are updated regularly; in particular it is worth keeping a close watch on the Latest News page.
Thank you for your interest; we hope you will leave these pages feeling inspired.
